Last week’s episode was a bust. It didn’t work! It’s one of those things that’s sadly out of our control - the original Episode 21 is gone, but not forgotten. In its place we present to you Episode 21 - Groudhog Day. We revisit some of the topics we discussed last week, and discuss some general webcomicry stuff as well. Here are the show notes:

  • Firstly, apologies for the crackliness of my voice. I recently bought a new USB hub and plugged my microphone into that instead of having it protrude from the USB sockets on the front of my PC. Unfortunately this has had a detrimental impact on my sound quality, for some reason. Eep! I’ll plug it directly into my PC again for the next episode.
  • Technobabble. The topic that keeps on giving! This week we discuss visual technobabble - on-screen graphics, Okudagrams, and the like.
  • The advancement of technology.
  • Old model kit making.
  • Writing yourself our of a corner you’ve written yourself into.
  • Drastic changes to comics - killing off characters.
  • We ruin Wall-E for everyone! Not really, but still.
  • Promoting your webcomic - advertising, and finding your audience.
  • Google Analytics sucks.
  • Business cards for Comic-Con.
  • Using online communities for your benefit.

And that’s it until after Comic-Con! See you again in two weeks. For the music credits for this episode, read on. Or, if you don’t want the surprised ruined, don’t read on at all. Continue reading Episode 21 - Groundhog Day…

Episode 21 Doesn’t Exist

July 20, 2008 on 12:29 pm | In Technical Woes | 1 Comment

So I finally say down to edit Episode 21, only to find that the recording is FUBAR’d - it’s skippy, sketchy, jittery, and generally crap and mostly unusable. Bugger.

We’ll be recording tonight, so that will become Episode 21, I guess. Sorry about this… if I’d had time to check it out earlier in the week I might’ve caught it and we could’ve re-recorded on Wednesday.

Episode 21 delays

July 18, 2008 on 9:52 pm | In Bloggery, Delays | No Comments

This has been a busy week for me. Between pulling together resources for Radio SoulGeek and writing/plotting the vast, expansive future of Jump Leads I’ve been physically and mentally exhausted this week. I had scheduled to get it done on Wednesday, but I ended up falling asleep instead. I think I need to re-evaluate my diet… and my free time!

Anyway, Episode 21 will be edited and up this weekend. Promise. These delays will likely stop once Comic-Con has been and gone. Once again, to tide you over, please enjoy some music.

# Laziness, aaahhh / Laziness, what is the point of it? #

July 13, 2008 on 12:19 am | In Delays | No Comments

I have been meaning to edit this week’s PodWarp 1999 since Wednesday, but somehow haven’t managed to find the time between writing a future issue of Jump Leads and playing excessive amounts of Rock Band and Team Fortress 2. I apologise, and promise to have the episode up before we record the next episode on Sunday evening.

In the meantime, here is some music.

Psst. Hey kid. You like show notes? Yeah, man. All the cool kids are doing it. Here, take a look…

  • We talk about Mark’s brand new scifi-comedy webcomic, ETI-PI.
  • A chap named “Mathew” asks us to discuss scifi Logistics. So we do.
  • Star Trek toilet humour. Har har.
  • Mathew also asks us about showing the light in an environment - “How do you approach this and is it as difficult as it seems?”
  • I order a sandwich, and it’s all downhill from here.
  • “This is basically the Jim Francis Power Hour.”
  • We look at the American Film Institute’s 10 Ten Scifi Films. I disagree with a lot of the list.
  • Scifi as a form of Social Commentary.
  • I give a very brief outline of what Wall-E is actually about.
  • I realise that the sandwich people haven’t called me back about my order yet and get a little agitated by my lack of sandwich.
  • I briefly talk about how the question “Where is my sandwich?” affects web Cartoonists everywhere.
  • We move on from sandwiches to pizza.
