  • Fan feedback.

If you have any feedback to the Podcast you can leave a comment or alternatively you can now email us using this handy email address. Just be sure to remove the obviously fake bit first.

And I know we don’t usually do this sort of thing, but here are some show notes just to keep you on your toes:

  • I’m ill, so I sound husky and quiet and try to avoid talking. I fail miserably.
  • Tauhid is once again absent, most likely due to our irregular recording time this week.
  • I go over my experiences of the UK Web & Mini Comix Thing, which I attended on the 22nd.
  • Scifi sub-genres.
  • The deus ex machina: Does it exist? And are any of us capable of pronouncing it properly?
  • The fine line between parody, homage and plagiarism.
  • Keeping track of your comic’s continuity.
  • Talking about Tauhid behind his back.

Making Jump Leads

I’ve mentioned in a previous podcast that JjAR had recorded the process of producing the art for a page of Jump Leads, and while you wait for tonight’s podcast I thought you might find them vaguely interesting.

Part two after the jump.

An absence filled

I’m back from England, and so the Podcastery has resumed. We recorded a new podcast last night (sadly without Tauhid, who was probably washing his hair or something) and that’ll be going up tonight. We’ll also be recording another one this Sunday which will go online next week.

I also want to thank everyone who came to see me at the UK Web & Mini Comix Thing on the 22nd. It was great hearing feedback from people who are actually listening to the podcast. It was awesome - we’ll try to get the five of us in one convention space at some point in the next few months.

Episode 5

I suppose you’ll be wanting some notes to go with that:

  • Our creative processes - how ideas get from our brains to our websites.
  • Good Ship Chronicles‘ impending reboot.
  • JjAR is awesome.
  • I hate my first webcomic so Glod-damned much.
  • Garfield.
  • The differences between a webcomic reboot and a printed comic or motion picture franchise reboot.

Tomorrow I’ll be flying back to England for a couple of weeks. I’ll be spending Saturday March 22nd at the UK Web & Mini Comix Thing. Despite being in another country, however, we still plan for all five of us to record Episode 6 next Saturday Sunday.

Episode 3

A few show notes for you:

  • Tauhid is missing this week, but I think I fill the void quite well thanks to the consumption of two gallons of chocolate milk. Apologies for just how pointless I am.
  • Building a Universe.
  • Making your own rules, and breaking them.
  • Consistency and realism.
  • Retcons.

Episode 2

Some of the ground covered in this edition:

  • No introduction! We spent ages talking about pizza and mostly forgot to do one.
  • The pizza banter isn’t actually included in the podcast. It may surface at a later time.
  • Writing scifi-comedy.
  • Storytelling and planning story arcs. Or not.
  • I talk far too much about my obsession with Many-Worlds interpretation. And baseball.
  • Parody and cliches.

Episode 1 - Part 1

Our first foray into Podcastery lasted an hour and a half. So as not to destroy the synapses in the minds of those who dare to listen, we have courteously split it into two smaller FunSize editions.

Some of the things discussed in this episode:

  • Why we chose webcomics as our particular medium.
  • Scifi cliches - when they work and when they don’t.
  • Comparing science fiction and fantasy.
  • Writing a long-form comic.
  • The importance of technology in science fiction.
  • What scifi fans are after.
